NEW - MIDUS Midwifery Up Skilling Program

MIDUS - Midwifery Up Skilling Program

Please note: the MIDUS courses that are offered here are pilot courses. At the completion of the pilot courses, in May 2010, an evaluation will be undertaken to determine the feasibility and sustainability of ongoing MIDUS courses.

The new MIDUS - Midwifery Up Skilling program has been developed in response to specific needs identified by midwives working in remote and isolated areas. This program aims to provide an overview of current practice in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. This will include a discussion of complications in pregnancy and birth, and the emergency management of a pregnant woman and her baby, with an emphasis on care in the remote or isolated setting.

Aim:
To ensure that midwives in remote and/or isolated areas maintain their skills and knowledge in maternity care.

Program developed for:

  • Midwives working in remote and/or isolated areas.
  • GP’s working in remote and/or isolated areas whose practice includes care of pregnant women.

The MIDUS program is endorsed by CRANAplus and the Royal College of Nursing, Australia and attracts 20 CNE points.

We anticipate that this program will be supported by an on-line component following the weekend course.

Cost:
CRANAplus members $250  Non-members $400

* Please note that these prices are based on the course being a pilot. The price does not include any subsequent subscriptions to online educational content. Prices will be reviewed upon completion of the pilot phase.

Courses will commence at 3:00pm Friday afternoon with completion by Sunday 5:00pm.
