NEW - Advanced REC Course

NEW - Advanced Remote Emergency Care course

Health care in remote Australia poses particular problems to practitioners who provide the day to day and emergency health care service. Harsh climate, dispersed population, poor transport, geographical isolation and great distances, mean that the time delay, resources and support available are considerably different to rural and metropolitan Australia.

This course aims to meet the specific needs of practitioners working in an isolated setting that may need to take a lead role in the management of care of a critically injured or unwell patient.

Aim:
To extend the competencies of experienced remote health practitioners to an expert level.

To educationally and clinically prepare and maintain the skills of experienced remote and isolated multidisciplinary health practitioners (RAN's, registered nurses GPs, paramedics and nurse practitioners) to confidently respond to, and manage medical emergencies (including trauma situations) at a very high level, beyond that of the current REC program.

Eligibility:
Registered nurses, remote area nurse's, paramedics with emergency or critical care qualifications or who have successfully completed the REC course. GP's who have relevant qualifications or who have successfully completed a REC or an equivalent remote emergency based course.

The Advanced Remote Emergency Care course is endorsed by CRANAplus and the Royal College of Nursing, Australia and attracts 20 CNE points.

This course will be supported by an online component pre and post course. The Advanced Life Support Competency will be a mandatory skill with the theoretical component to be completed on line and the practical assessment will be completed during the course.

Cost:
CRANAplus members $600 Non-members $750

* The price does not include any subsequent subscriptions to online educational content.
